M.I.A.

Ya'll, I know.  I have been super sketch lately about posting.  I hate to admit it, but when stressed, blogging is the first to go.  However, it really shouldn't be because it is a huge stress relief.  I can write about what I want, get to look at pretty things, and it takes my mind off of the actual, real life stresses going on.

So recap:  This past Monday I was in DC interviewing for a big-girl job and flew up at 7:00 AM and flew home at 7:00 PM..it was a long-a** day.  The interview consisted of a tour of the office, lunch, and then about an hour chat about the day-to-day responsibilities and all that fun stuff.  I gave myself about two hours in-between the interview and my flight home to check out my new apartment!  Holy small.  I mean, I am super-duper excited, but all I can think about it how small it is.  I now know how Mollie feels in her crate.  Sorry girl.  I have been stalking interior design blogs and websites to get ideas on how to create a functional space and now that I've actually seen the place, I feel like I have a really good idea how to design the layout.  More to come on that..possibly and before and after post.

We are now one week until move date, so my blogging may continue to be sporadic, but don't give up on me.  I will be back to normal in about 2-3 weeks.  Let's say a month to be safe.

Oh and I got the job!  Halle-freakin-lujah.

B&W

Call me old school, I don't care.  I am obsessed with bouclé and that is something that will never change.  Accept it and move on.

Oh and fun trick:  hover over the close-up pic (#2) and icons will pop up next to each product.  Click on the icons and you'll be automatically sent to the site where you can purchase each item.

Old school and nerdy--winning combo.

FRIDAY READS

Proof.

7 Spring Color Trends.  All amazing.

Four-ingredient recipes.  Because I'm going to be so broke in about two months.

Lauren's account of renting apartments in Paris.  One day.  Oh and definitely finding a mirror like the one in their flat.  Trés Chic.

I've been mind-planning a blogger's brunch for once I get settled in DC.  Even though my place will only allow for say..5 people..I will make sure to have these hostess essentials ready for action.

MIXED PRINTS

This is one of my favorite new outfits.  Too bad I can only wear it once every other month-ish because of how loud it is.  Yes, the mix of florals and stripes is loud, but it will definitely be repeated again soon..next time in more spring colors.

Umm and that pyramid ring..Rocksbox.  Make sure to use my code "blackblazerxoxo" to receive your first month free!

WHAT I WANT

Two weddings and a polo match.  I think three events call for this one dress matched with any of these four sandals, don't you?  I'm leaning towards the top left pair.

ALL BLACK EVERYTHING

For those who know me, you know that all black is my go-to.  Even though it can get a little repetitive, I make sure to switch up textures and details.  This top has the prettiest straps and I matched with distressed jeans.  I also added a fun sandal to spice it up.  Sale alert:  This sandal is crazy on sale at Piperlime and you better hurry since Piperlime will be no more by the end of April.

The delicate necklace is from my new favorite service:  Rocksbox.  It's a subscription service where you sign up to receive beautiful pieces of jewelry to loan whenever you need.  You can try it for free by using the code "blackblazerxoxo".  I promise, you'll be hooked.

CART CRAZY

all images via pinterest

1. Mattress  2. TV  3. Bar Cart.  In that order.  I'll be treating myself to a bar cart once I've moved in and can find the space in my little 500 sq ft. studio.  Yes, 500 sq ft. and that's probably rounding up.  Since the place is so small, every little detail needs to be immaculate and that includes the bar cart set-up.  The pictures above are some of my favorite ways to style them.

NASHVILLE

I truly never thought I would be sad to say goodbye to Nashville.  As much as I have loved this city, for the last year, I have been planning my move to DC and have been (insert a word stronger than anxious) to move.  Any chance I had to visit DC, I would take it (thanks for your hospitality, Kri :)  However, as my move date gets closer and closer, I keep getting reminders of how great Nashville really is.  I was raised here, had my first job here, started my blog here; it will always be a very special place to me.  First and most importantly, my family is here.  And not to mention, I was just asked to be my baby nephew's Godmother--can you say "depressed" for not being around him?  Secondly, my dog is going to be super depressed.  I know, I know..but she has become so used to being super spoiled by my parents and being around our family's dog, that I can't imagine how sad she is going to be when it's just us two again.  Third, my friends.  I'm in complete denial about this one.  I just assume I'm going to get to DC and have an instant friend group--luckily, I have a lot of friends there already and I'm so grateful for that--but it won't be the same.  Lastly, Nashville really is amazing.  It is a low-cost-of-living, convenient, growing city.  Having a car here is no problem because there is parking everywhere.  Traffic really isn't that bad.  Rent prices aren't really that bad (they're getting worse, but they're nowhere near DC prices--bye, bye shopping).  New restaurants and bars are popping up everywhere.  It's just really great all around.

All that to say, I am not second guessing my decision to move at all.  I am so excited for all my new adventures and for all the new people I am going to meet.  It's all happening and I couldn't be more excited!
