LOAFERS

blazer:  Gap (old, similar) \\ blouse:  J. Crew (old, similar) \\ jeans:  J. Crew (old, similar) \\ bag:  F21 (love this one) \\ sunglasses:  Celine \\ loafers:  c/o Johnston & Murphy

Although, it has been rain boots and snow boots recently, sometimes I just want to wear something a little more preppy and not so practical with this cold weather.  These black, croc, loafers from J&M are the ones.  I like the contrast stitching and detailing on the back.  They are beautiful and super comfy; perfect for all day wear.

NEW START

pic via

Today marks the first day of my new job and I am pumped.  I had a pretty terrible experience at my last place of employment, so I am very excited to get a fresh start and leave that all in the past.  However, I did learn a few things while I was there and I feel like that will help me in the long run..it just was not something I could stay in for any longer than I did.  Quite honestly, I really don't know what to expect, but I am keeping an open mind and staying super positive about the new job.  I mean, any place will be better than the last..

I'll be cutting my commute in half, working on a much larger team, and learning a whole new set of skills.  Good combo, right?  Wish me luck!

NYFW || RECAP 2

Next up:  Saturday & Sunday.  Just as magical as Thursday & Friday.  Below is the recap.

Society Social

Faith Connexion dress/Lulu Frost earrings from Rent the Runway

Honest Hazel eye gels

Roxy!

Saturday began with Kristyn and I heading over to the Taoray Wang show.  I loved it.  Everything was very wearable..work wear at it's finest.  I also swear that next fall/winter, everyone will be wearing a long, pinstripe wool coat.  Afterwards, we met up with Dana from Pink Champagne Problems and Amanda from M Booth PR at ABC Kitchen.  This was the cutest.  The atmosphere was incredible..great vibes and great food.  We then had a meeting with Roxy at Society Social.  Y'all..she was probably one of the nicest people I have ever met.  She was so down to earth, extremely motivating, and just genuinely sweet.  If I'm ever in a position to be buying custom made furniture..she will be who I buy it from (specifically thinking of a emerald green velvet couch).  I also finally bought this pillow.  It was the perfect excuse to buy it.  After our meeting, we went home and changed for the Monique Lhuiller show.  This is when we all got to wear our picks from Rent the Runway.  RTR was so great and let each of us pick out a dress and accessory to wear.  It was the best excuse to get all dressed up.

Shocker..Sunday was another early morning.  I met up with Jessica from MSV to see the TOME show.  They had a rose on each seat for Valentine's Day.  So sweet, right?  The show was super cool and the street style there was on point.  Weirdest, yet coolest stuff.  After the show, I headed back to the hotel (this time in a cab..it was negative degrees) and the girls and I packed up everything, checked out, checked our luggage and headed to Sarabeth's in Tribeca for lunch.  My bestie, Emmicia, met up with us which was so fun.  I highly recommend the Scrambled Egg Popover if you're wondering.  Then it was shopping in SOHO, drinks at Dos Caminos, and back to the hotel to grab our luggage and head to Penn Station.  I won't get into the horrifying experience we had on the train ride home..the rest of the weekend made up for it and if that was the only thing to go wrong..I'm okay with it.

Overall, NYFW was an incredible experience.  It was so neat seeing the collections that are going to influence a whole season of style.  I'll never forget and only hope I get to go again.

Thanks for following along!

NYFW with RTR

dress:  c/o Rent the Runway \\ shirt:  Theory (similar) \\ boots:  Steve Madden \\ earrings:  c/o Rent the Runway \\ watch:  Michele \\ sunglasses:  Celine

I would have to say that this was my favorite outfit I wore during my time in NYC.  I had the opportunity to work with Rent the Runway and got to pick out a dress and matching accessory.  I went with this oversized, metallic, shift dress from Faith Connexion and these beautiful, unique earrings from Lulu Frost.  The fabric of the dress was very thick and heavy which was perfect for the frigid temperatures.  I also loved how the metallic threads really made it dressy enough for the Monique Lhuiller show.  Yes, Monique.  I died.  Anyways, it was perfect and the cool thing about Rent the Runway is that anyone can find the perfect dress for any event they may be going to.  Whether it's a fashion show, wedding reception, casino night, or brunch with the girls, Rent the Runway will have what you're looking for.

Thanks to Rent the Runway Georgetown for partnering on this post!

NYFW || RECAP 1

Well, y'all..I made it.  I survived my first fashion week experience and it was amazing.  I can't even explain how fun it was.  I totally thought I wasn't going to be invited to any shows..well shucks..I went to seven.  Yes, seven.  I don't know how, but it was incredible.

I'm going to go over Thursday & Friday today and then Saturday & Sunday later this week..just to keep it from being the longest post ever.

Brunch with Mode at Cookshop

Laduree

We arrived to the city Thursday morning around 8am.  If you're doing the math, that means we left a little before 5am from DC which means I woke up around 3am to get ready.  Thursday was a long day to say the least.  As soon as we got there, it was go time.  Kristyn, Lauren and I headed to see Nicholas K while Jenn (bless her heart) handled the bags..however, Jenn got to see BCBG, so we're even..?  After that, we went to Laduree in Soho to get lunch.  A little advice..the Croque Monsieur was unreal.  Everyone raves about the macarons, but I highly recommend actually getting lunch.  We then had a meeting with Lydell NYC in their showroom.  Really neat space, really pretty jewelry.  Then..Marissa.  #omg.  Marissa Webb was amazing.  I will take one of each, please.  Afterwards, we met up with Dressometry for coffee at Chalait.  Order the Chai Latte.  We then headed back to the hotel and changed for dinner which was at Cookshop.  After dinner, we crashed.

Friday morning was another early one, but definitely not as early as the morning before.  I headed to a brunch with Mode (again at Cookshop) and had one of the best green juices ever.  After brunch, the four of us met up at Julie Vos to visit their showroom.  If y'all haven't noticed, Julie Vos is my favorite jewelry line.  It's stunning stuff.  Bold gold and beautiful stones and gems.  It's also semi-affordable which is important.  After JV, we went to The Plaza for afternoon tea and I died.  I could do afternoon tea every single day.  I would be 1,000 lbs, but it would be worth it.  We then headed to see the O'2nd presentation which was a fave.  Very wearable pieces and a great color scheme.  The muted reds and blues were everything.  After the presentation, Lauren and I stayed for the Nicole Miller show.  Beautiful show and really neat meeting a few other bloggers we sat around.  We then went back to the hotel to rest up and change.  Next up was Balthazar for dinner.  Another "#omg" moment, y'all.  The lobster risotto may have been one of the best meals of my life.  It was so, so good.  Again, we crashed after dinner.

Amazing two days.  Stay tuned for the S&S recap.

WISH(LIST)ING: VDAY GIFTS

As a single girl, you'd think I would have this thing against Valentine's Day, but it's actually the opposite.  I can't wait to celebrate the day with someone someday, but for now, I'm content celebrating with myself, a bottle of red, and some pizza.  I also think it's important to get a little Valentine's Day gift for yourself.  If you don't love yourself first, it'll be really hard for someone else to..am I right?  So, this year I've rounded up a few items that I'm thinking of gifting to myself.  To:  Me, Love:  Me.
