TOO MUCH TRUST

image via pinterest

Y'all, I don't know what it is, but lately people have been trying to scam me left and right.  Do you ever feel like you're being taken advantage of or that people think you're so incompetent that they're able to trick you?  I went to college, people.  I can read.  I think maybe I've become so inclined to trust people right off the bat, that I become super disheartened when I realize that my trust has been abused.  Maybe that's a product of being raised in the South, but I better get some tougher skin soon.

FRIDAY FAVE

Let's get real.  I never used to lotion-up after taking a shower.  I hated the feeling of being super clean and then covering it up with oily, sticky lotion.  I'm sure my skin was screaming for some moisture, but I just ignored it.  Sorry, skin.  Nivea In-shower Lotion has been a major game-changer.  I recommend using it after you're done with everything else--washing or not washing your hair, washing your body, shaving, etc.--as it makes the bottom of the shower pretty much the consistency of butter..you've been warned.  All you have to do is lather the lotion all over your body and rinse.  You'll get the moisture you need while still feeling clean.  It's the perfect combo.

SJP

sweater:  Vince (similar) // jeans:  Paige // shoes:  SJP (color sold out, but similar here) // bag:  Loeffler Randall // jewelry:  David Yurman, J. Crew, Michele

One word:  pale.  Guess my spray tan is officially gone.  I digress.

But seriously, these shoes are amaze.  I've been told they look uncomfortable, but they're actually not as bad as they look.  I was lusting over them for about 4 months and the second they went on sale, they were gone.  Panic.  I went to Nordstrom during lunch that day and because of God's good grace, they had one 7.5 left in Seattle!  I've never liked Seattle more.

WHAT I WANT

Such fun shoes and at a not-so-bad price point.  Still investments, but more of a Kate Spade, Tory type and not a Manolo, Red-Bottoms type.

CANADIAN TUXEDO

So, I guess yesterday's post was a premonition to today's.  Didn't plan it--I swear.  It's all about the comfort, ladies.  Strolling around in your 4 inchers isn't going to get you anywhere fast.

PINSPIRATION

While I'm still 100% against wearing a sweatshirt in public, I think comfort is key..especially when it comes to your shoes.  Lord knows my feet have been put through the ringer, so whenever I can, I try and pull-off  the comfy-chic look.  Not sure it always passes as chic, but it's the thought that counts.

FRIDAY READS

Obsessed.  You'll thank me afterwards.

Great article on how to hide those annoying dark circles.  Although this is great advice, I think I need something stronger.

I'll take one of everything, please.  J. Crew's new arrivals are available now.

I've been an anxious mess lately (more posts to come on this) and these tips have been super helpful.

One of my favorite looks from Blair is above.  This is where you can use the term "on fleek".

Inspiring graphs and charts.  Yes, they can be inspiring.

Make sure to enter Lauren's giveaway here.  Isn't she the cutest?

THE BLACK BLAZER

It's here, it's here!  Everyone, welcome to "The Black Blazer"!

It has been a long time coming, but I finally pulled the trigger and changed the name of my blog.  I really loved "BNA-DCA" as it encompassed what was/is going on in my life, but I took some professional advice from a friend and could not be happier.  The new name reflects my classic, timeless approach to fashion and really everything else.  A black blazer can be chic, comfortable, professional, casual, bold, classy, confident, sexy; you name it.  But overall, it should be a staple in your wardrobe as I hope this "Black Blazer" will become a staple in your daily reading list.

In addition, I hope you like the new design of the site.  I wanted to make sure the design and name went well together and again, could not be happier with the results--like I'm kind of obsessed (thank you, KCS :)  My content will remain mostly the same, but I plan to write more personal posts regarding the progression of my personal & professional life--which is in full swing.

Thanks for reading!

I'M BLUE

sweater:  Nordstrom // shirt:  Equipment // jeans:  Paige // heels:  Kate Spade // bag:  Loeffler Randall // jewelry:  Julie Vos, Michele, David Yurman

So, it's a little ironic I scheduled this outfit post for today.  This past weekend I was thrown a complete curveball (punch in the stomach, stab in the back, etc.) by a good friend; or at least he had pretended to be.  Not to get into the dirty details (as fun and dramatic as they were), but it was the kind of situation where afterwards, I wanted to control everything, figure out the problem, and get everything back to normal.  Pretty on point for any girl.  Well, that failed tremendously and I am now just left confused because I wasn't given any answers.  Insert "sick feeling".  Deep down, I know I'm better off without this friend--many inklings before; now confirmed--however, I still feel a twinge of sadness (#damnfeelings).  At least I look good in blue.
