ORANGE IS THE NEW BACKGROUND

sweater: J. Crew (similar) // jeans:  Joe's Jeans // OTK boots:  Sole Society // necklace: House of Harlow // bag: Rebecca Minkoff // bracelets:  J. Crew, David Yurman; ring: David Yurman

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!  I love this holiday..the smells of all the yummy food, seeing family, relaxing and watching some football..you can't not love Thanksgiving.  This year, I am especially thankful for this blog.  I started it just about 9 months ago and it has really become a blessing in my life.  It has become an outlet for me to express my creativity which I am completely deprived of during the hours of 8-5.  I have met a lot of new people, learned a lot more about the blogging community, and have become better versed in "computer language".  I have also found some confidence in myself through it which has probably been the best blessing of all.

On to the fashion:  Obsessed with these OTK boots from Sole Society.  I had been lusting over the 50/50s, but couldn't pull the trigger.  When I came across these, I couldn't resist.  The price is on point and the best part?  They look like they would cost more.

WHAT TO WEAR: THANKSGIVING

I am a sucker for monochromatic outfits.  I usually stick to all black or all white, but for Thanksgiving, I thought I'd mix it up a bit.  Burgundy, oxblood, bordeaux--whatever you call it--it is a great color for the holidays.  Add some two-tone bling and then at least you'll look chic while stuffing your face.

PLAID SCARF

sweater: Nordstrom (similar) // denim: J Brand // scarf: J. Crew // heels: Forever 21 (similar) // bag: LV // bracelets: David Yurman, J. Crew, Hermes; ring: David Yurman; watch: Michele (similar)

I wish I had styled this scarf differently so you could see all the colors it contains (think primary: blue, red, yellow).  But never fear--it will definitely be in a future post; I can promise you that.

MY CHRISTMAS LIST

We have one month and one day until Christmas, people..this is a friendly reminder to get yourselves together and get shopping.  But seriously, we all know that Christmas isn't about the gifts, but it sure is fun making a list of all the fun things you want, am I right or am I right?

CAMEL & BLACK PATENT

sweater dress: Target (similar) // scarf: H&M // belt: J. Crew (similar) // flats: H&M (similar) // clutch: Clare V. // jewelry: David Yurman, H Bracelet, Michele watch, Double-sided pearls (similar)

Absolutely fell in love with this camel scarf from H&M..not to mention, it was less than $13.  I wear scarves far more often than anyone should, so when I do, I try to style it in a not-so-conventional way.

DEEP THOUGHTS

image via pinterest

Not really, but maybe for me.  As I was stuck in a traffic jam the other morning, I couldn't help but compare my life to the traffic patterns.  Silly, I know..but I wasn't in the mood for talk radio.  We are always trying to get from Point A to Point B, whether we are conscious of if it or not.  Sometimes, we just cruise right on to Point B without a single bump in the road and other times, we are stuck in a stand-still, no movement in sight, running out of gas, traffic jam that stops us in our tracks.  Of course, there is also everything in between; slow drivers, rain, construction, etc.  Daily life issues that we have become comfortable with handling.  Even though you never want to go through the mac-daddy of traffic jams, I truly believe those are the times where you build character.  Sometimes, it can be disheartening when you handle your circumstances in the wrong way (cursing, honking, hand-gestures)..am I really that mean of a person?  And other times, you realize that you're letting people in your lane, feeling bad for everyone, and really putting things into perspective..it's just traffic.  Kind of funny how it all relates, huh?

I wouldn't say I'm going through a traffic jam in this phase, but I feel like I've been slowly getting through a construction zone for a while now.  Life is staying the same when I feel like it should be progressing faster and I should be closer to my "Point B" than I am.  I also feel like I handle it well (some days better than others), but I'm learning and growing from it and I think that is what matters.

STRIPED SWEATER

sweater: Vince (similar) // denim: J. Crew // flats: Tory Burch (similar) // bag: Annabel Ingall // necklace: Julie Vos (similar); earrings: Julie Vos; watch: Michele (similar)

I stalked eBay for this sweater for only God know how long.  Then, one glorious day, an XS appeared and about 3 days later, it was in my closet.

PINSPIRATION

images via pinterest and pinkpeonies.com

Blanket scarfs are taking over the world..but really, they are everywhere and I'm loving it.  How cute and comfy do all these girls look?  Scarves have to be my favorite F/W accessory and I'm not even sure what comes in at a close second.

FAVE FINDS

For my quick trip to the Windy City this weekend, I am only bringing a carry-on to make life easier. DryBar's Up, Up, and Away! Set is the perfect way to make sure you're able to pack all your hair-care essentials without upsetting the TSA (they have enough to worry about..cough, Ebola, cough).  The set includes a travel size shampoo, conditioner, and dry shampoo; they even have thrown in a mini-detangler brush..how cute.  All this and it is only $25 at Sephora.  This is one of the best fave finds for a traveler if I've ever found one.  Hint:  perfect stocking-stuffer or gift for a Dirty Santa party.

LEATHER COATED SKINNIES

blouse: Equipment // jeans:  Joe's // booties: Zara (similar) // necklace: Kenneth Lane // bag: Rebecca Minkoff // bracelets:  J. Crew, David Yurman; ring: David Yurman // nails: Romper Room by Essie // lips: Beso by Stila

I was obsessing over finding the perfect pair or black, leather-coated, skinnies and I luckily found this pair at TJ!  They're my first pair of Joe's Jeans and I think I'm in love.  The fit is great and they have yet to stretch out.  Paired with my fave blouse and fave booties--I think we have a winner.
