FAVE FINDS: TRAVEL ESSENTIALS

As I get older, I feel like I am traveling way more often.  I also feel like I am way more aware of how tired I look after getting off of a plane.  Whether it's a one hour flight to the beach or a four hour flight to Vegas (or a seven hour flight to Paris--in my dreams), I always tend to look the same amount of tired and always feel the same amount of dehydrated.  Above are a few fave travel essentials to help make you feel comfortable and cute on the flight and look refreshed and ready for all your fun travel plans.

PS--the wrap is on major sale and I can guarantee you will live in it (regardless if you are traveling or not)

TRANSITION

I know what you're thinking.."Transition"?  You were expecting some sort of summery/fallish mood board filled with light sweaters and ankle boots.  No, not today.  My life is literally in transition and it is just coincidence that the seasons are following along.  Moving last weekend was harder than I imagined.  Negative thoughts about commute time, puppy time, overdose of family time--whatever--consumed my mind.  I could not stop thinking of how wonderful my last apartment had been and all of the positives that went along with it.  This is going to sounds really corny, but as I was driving to meet friends Saturday night (22 minute drive instead of 9 minutes; I digress), one of my favorite songs came on the radio and it really helped put things into perspective.  One of the lyrics goes "I know the sun must set to rise"; how true is that?  This transition may be not what I envisioned, however, it has to happen in order for the "sun to rise" and that makes it all worth it.

DCA STYLE

In preparation for an upcoming girl's trip to our nation's capital, I thought I'd put together a typical outfit you could see on someone walking around the shops in Georgetown.  Their style is very preppy, classic, and crisp.  And on another note, I tried on those boots this weekend and I will be splurging on them..whenever I can convince myself that the price tag isn't as bad as it seems.

SAVE OR SPLURGE: BLACK BOOTS

I found all of these "saves" at Target.  Yes, Target.  All of these styles are on point with boot trends for fall and they are all under $75.  However, you will only actually spend $75 if you can somehow make it out of Target without buying anything else.  Good luck with that.

FAVE NEW STORE

dress (on sale) // bracelets 1 2 3 // tote // sandals // sunglasses // coat

Okay, so it's not a "new store" per se, however, it's new to BNA and it's a big deal.  Madewell has their grand opening at Green Hills Mall next Tuesday and I will for sure be there.  Madewell is just so easy to love.  All their clothes are classic, casual, and comfy..not to mention, super cute.  I just bought the dress above in a navy and ivory stripe and may have to get this color, too.  I have also been eyeing their classic tote for longer than I'd like to admit--you can have it monogrammed..'nough said.  Welcome to Nashville, Madewell!  I think you'll like it here.  And for all of you not in a city with a Madewell, they are having a sale online for the 48 hours where you get 30% select fall styles with free shipping with code:  ADDTOBAG.  (Not sure whether to say "you're welcome" or "sorry"..)

NYFW CONT.

As I was checking the schedule for yesterday's shows, I started to feel a little stressed.  How in the world would you make it on time to the J. Crew presentation at 9:30am right after Tory's show at 9am?  I began to imagine the crowd funneling out of the Hall and rushing/hailing cabs/sprinting to the Pavilion. And I was right.  Right after Tory made her brief appearance, the crowd simultaneously arose and made their way towards the exit. Hopefully the fashion gods made sure that these two venues were close to each other.  And double-hopefully I'll be able to find out next year.

Tory Burch was wonderful; bright colors and fun patterns, shift dresses, fun footwear, and flowy skirts..and that robe jacket..to die.

J. Crew had a lot of culottes going on and culottes just ain't my thing.  I'm not going to completely write them off (culottes..not J. Crew ;), but I'm also not going to be sporting them around town anytime soon.  However, the outerwear was on point.

                                   sweater // loafers // sunglasses // scarf // bangles // bag // jeans

In honor of the shows, I threw together a fun J. Crew/ToryBurch outfit.  PS-some of the items may or may not be on sale.

Above are just a few of my favorite looks from the past couple day at MBFW.  Shocking they are all neutral tones.

FAVE WEEK

It has begun.  New York Fashion Week is here for the next 7 days, so if I go missing or don't answer your emails, you can find me behind my laptop watching the shows.  If my boss is reading this, I apologize. #sorryimnotsorry

So far, my favorites have been Marissa Webb (le duh), Tome, and a few of the pieces by Tadashi Shoji.  I missed BCBG and Jay Godfrey or I'm sure they would also be up there.  Tomorrow's must-watch shows are Zimmerman, Rebecca Minkoff, Saunder, and Monique Lhuillier.  You can access all the live shows at mbfashionweek.com.

In closing, I don't tend to make future "goals" for my life.  I usually get obsessed with one thing at a time and work on it until it happens.  However, I am going to go ahead and make attending next September's MBFW a goal. Whether I have to volunteer or I miraculously receive an invitation, I'll be there.

Enjoy the shows!

RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY

Well, summer is really leaving with a bang, isn't it?  This rain is really making me want fall to get here sooner than later, but in the meantime, I suppose I can browse for some cute rainy-day attire.  Sounds like a good excuse to me..

Although I wasn't able to make it to the lake or the Hamptons or anywhere else this Labor Day weekend, I was able to have a fun-filled and relaxing staycation here in Nashville.  In between furniture shopping, dinners with friends and family, and maybe a little karaoke (don't worry--I just watched), I made sure to fit in some online shopping at these amazing Labor Day sales:
