WHAT'S GOING ON

Wanted to give y'all a little life update as I've been pretty MIA lately..I feel like I owe it to those who have stuck with me.  I'm still blogging and I don't intend to give that up, it just became a lot more difficult to keep up with for a few different reasons.  So here's a rundown of what's been going on over the past few months:

SCHOOL:

I graduated!  I walked in the spring graduation ceremony even though I didn't technically finish classes until August.  Even though it was really difficult to go back to classes (literally) the day after I "graduated", I decided to do so because the spring ceremony is held on the National Mall in front of the Washington Monument.  It was amazing and I felt really proud to be a part of it.  From last September to this August, I was taking classes on a full time schedule at night while working full time during the day, so blogging fell to the wayside.  I actually came up with a long list of things I wanted to do once school was over (coming soon in another post) and I haven't even been able to get to that yet because of the next subject..

WORK/JOB SEARCH:

When I decided to transition to a full time course load, my full time job started to become too much to handle.  I moved into an entirely different industry (banking to recruiting) and it was the best decision (at the time) I could have made.  The new job offered the flexibility I needed to go to classes earlier in the afternoon and work on homework during the day.  However, now that I have graduated, I'm in a bit of a crunch.  I thought I would be able to get a new job fairly quickly after graduating, but it hasn't been as easy as I thought.  Tbh..it's starting to really stress me out.  I know that everything will work out eventually, but it's just hard going through it.  Again, instead of using my lunch hour to blog, I've been using it to apply to jobs.  I'm pretty set on staying here in D.C., so if any of you know of any marketing positions here (or in NYC, San Fran, or Nashville), let me know ;)

DATING:

Dating?  I know, I know ((Dad:  sorry I didn't tell you earlier..).  Right around the time of my graduation ceremony in the spring, I decided to start using the dating apps again.  Well, it worked!  I met someone on one of the apps and we've been dating for the past few months.  Dating has definitely been taking some time away from LLW, but for me, my personal relationships > blogging..so that's that.  I guess this is like one of those annoying #humblebrag situations, but here's a little info about him:

This guy is legit, y'all.  He is one of the nicest people I've ever met and I don't know if he even realizes it.  He is super smart and takes his job very seriously.  He is so funny and can be really goofy; I am constantly laughing when I'm with him.  He has cool and unusual hobbies - I find it really neat.  I like his opinions and viewpoints on most things.  He listens to me!  I'm a typical girl and when things upset me, I need to talk them out.  I've brought up a few things to him and he took them to heart and listened..it meant the world to me.  He has a great relationship with his family and has an awesome group of friends.  He's a really good cook.  He's incredibly helpful.  He's been trying to help me with my job search and he's helping his brother with his; he helps really anyone out that needs anything.  He has a great sense of style.  He has joked about starting a "man blog"..but I really think he could.  He's up for anything..we've done river rafting, tried a new restaurant, checked out a weird museum exhibit, I almost got him to carve pumpkins with me haha; he's game for whatever.  He’s also up for doing nothing and just watching tv or a movie..these end up being some of my favorite times with him.  He also knows a lot about a lot; I'm constantly learning new things when we talk.  Oh - and the best thing so far - he bought my dog a toy.  That little gesture has been the best thing to me :) Kidding, but if you know me, it actually really was a big deal.

Yea, I know that's a lot, but it's a happy thing to write about.  We're still just casually dating, so we'll see what happens..but it's been so fun and I feel very lucky we met!

FAMILY:

My parents have been renovating my childhood home and I couldn't be happier for them.  I know they've been wanting to either move or update our home for a while and from the pics I've seen, I think they're going to be so happy with the decision to stay in our home and renovate.  It's looks amazing..I'm very jealous of all their square footage and I know Mollie is too ;) 500 sqft is starting to get a little too cozy for us.. I get to go home for Thanksgiving and Christmas and can't wait to see it in person!

My nephews are growing up so so fast. My godson is using full sentences and every time I talk to him on the phone, I want to cry.  I can't believe I've missed so much, but PTL for FaceTime.  Instead of "Lala", he's starting to call me by my actual name like he's an adult or something?!  I can't handle it.  My other nephew is 10 months now and he's the smiliest (not a real word) baby I've ever seen.  Again, over FaceTime, I just have to say his name and he smiles ear to ear.  Side note:  his teeth are coming in and right now, the only two teeth coming in are the upper fangs, so he looks like a little, cute, baby Dracula and it's my favorite thing ever.

FRIENDS:

I'm going through one of those times where I feel like all of my friends are moving on without me..buying/building houses, having babies, getting amazing promotions, etc..it's an odd feeling because I'm so incredibly happy for them, but it's also causing me to feel like I'm falling behind.  The weird thing is, I'm also really happy with everything in my life right now..so it's confusing.  I do have a lot of friends that are in the same position as me too, so that helps.  Everyone's timing is different and in all seriousness..I want kids one day, but can't imagine not getting eight hours of sleep every night..soo, yea.

There you have it.  A little update and all the reasons for why this blog has been taking a hit.  I'm still trying to attend as many events as I can to keep up with the blogging girls here in D.C. and hopefully once I get a new job, I'll be able to put in more effort. Thanks for sticking with me over the last few months!  I promise I'm not going anywhere :) Hope you all have a great week!
